Officially INLAND EMPIRE is about “A woman in trouble”. David Lynch started shooting Inland Empire in the mid-aughts and made the CHOICE to film it himself with a Sony digital cam-corder. The movie was filmed over the course of a few years without a script.

Visiting a theme park always provides a bit of thrill and a feeling that you are a close to danger. Agnès Varda pieces together Mona’s story through flashbacks told by those who encountered her (played by a largely nonprofessional cast), producing a splintered portrait of an enigmatic woman.

On a photo shoot in Ghana, an American model slips back in time, becomes enslaved on a plantation and bears witness to the agony of her ancestral past.
