Alex Greene

Alex Greene is a musician, anthropologist, and writer based in Memphis, TN. His musical work encompasses many genres, including garage rock, jazz, exotica, electronic soundscapes, musique concrète, and soundtracks for film. His last project, ReMix Memphis, incorporated field recordings of the Bluff City into musical settings by diverse local talent.

Since 2009, he collaborated with the Rolling Head Orchestra, a band of jazz and soul rockers he assembled in 2009 to score the Boss Crump documentary, Citizens Not Subjects! Reawakening Democracy in Memphis (Verissima, 2010). Facebook, Instagram 

“I often favor art that evokes shadows of the old, weird America, via influences from Duke Ellington to Booker T to The Beatles. But I really started out on the synthesizer. As both a musician and a wordsmith, I strive to make writing more musical and music more thoughtful.”
