While Prince’s entries as a pop artist command staggeringly prolific reach, his discography also boasts impressive range, including lesser known original tunes which blend funk, soul, blues, and jazz. Join bandleader Darryl Sanford and his homegrown group as they tackle deeper, fusion-bred cuts from Prince’s expansive songbook.
DARRYL SANFORD
Darryl Sanford is a Memphis-based keyboardist and bandleader specializing in jazz, fusion, and funk music. Sanford maintains an active presence as a jazz performer in Memphis, having performed with notable artists including Althea Renee and Marion Meadows. This particular concert marks Sandford’s return to the Strictly Jazz series following his 2024 sold-out show in the Green Room at Crosstown Arts showcasing the music of George Duke. Sanford’s latest single “Memories” is available now on all streaming platforms.
