    Retos y Retratos, an exhibition of portraits of Latino/a artists and samples of their work, strives to give a voice to the struggles, triumphs, and experiences of this community of artists in Memphis. Committed to different forms of expression, united by art and the challenges they have faced, these artists seek to preserve and communicate their roots. The portraits demonstrate both the artistic and intimate side of these creators.

  • Beginners Photography Class for Adults

    Photographer Jamie Harmon will teach students how to use any photographic device — from smart phone cameras to DSLRs — to create one-of-a-kind images using editing tools in Lightroom and Photoshop.

  • Open Crit

    Crosstown Arts’ Open Crit series, organized in partnership with ArtsMemphis, is a monthly critique event where visual artists are invited to bring new and/or in-progress studio work for critical feedback and group discussion particular to each artist’s practice. All sessions are free and open to the public.

    A casual cabaret featuring and benefitting the students of the Central High School theatre program. Doors open at 6:30 p.m./performance begins at 7 p.m. Suggested donation of $10.

  • Impossible Language

    Ongoing contemporary poetry series organized by Ashley Roach-Freiman. This first-ever multidisciplinary Impossible Language will feature literary readings by Erin Elizabeth Smith, Emily Capettini, and Jennie Frost of Sundress Publications/Sundress Academy of the Arts.

  • Crosstown St. Jude Marathon Spirit Station

    Join Crosstown neighbors in cheering on the St. Jude Marathoners as they head into mile 12 of the 26.2-mile course! We'll gather in the parking lot in front of Crosstown Arts with free coffee, breakfast pastries, and a Bloody Mary bar (while supplies last!). We'll have a DJ and some spirit gear to share, but feel free to bring your own signs, pom poms, etc.

  • It’s a Hustle Holiday

    Relationships, community, and networking are important components for success in the art world — for both artists and collectors. Stop by Amurica for festivities and fun! Bring some business cards, grab a name tag and a cocktail, and get to know your arts community. We will have snacks, a rousing game of "Drink N Draw" (for artists and non-artists alike), an artsy holiday craft project, and door prizes. Please bring a canned food item for Mid-South Arts Against Hunger food drive.
