Kyshona lends her voice and music to those who feel silenced, forgotten or alone. She began her career as a music therapist, writing her first songs with patients — students and inmates under her care. She became compelled to write independently and find her own voice, an endeavor which led her to the Nashville creative community and songwriting culture. Since then, she balances her music career with her passion to heal in community through her organization Your Song.
A hectic touring schedule; twenty-one recordings as a leader, countless sideman recordings including Ray Brown, Bobby Hutcherson, Roger Kellaway; soundtrack performances on three of Clint Eastwood’s distinguished films—most notably Academy Award-winning Million Dollar Baby; raconteur, arranger, acclaimed educator, in residence at USC’s Studio/Jazz Guitar Dept., when does Bruce Forman rest?

The opening season concert for the acclaimed returning Mahogany Chamber Music Series is an afternoon of music and poetry, which explores themes of identity, sisterhood, love, and redemption. The show celebrates arts as a powerful vehicle for healing. Performed by world-renowned artists German-American violinist Anyango Yarbo-Davenport, Nigerian-Canadian poet, playwright and performer Titilope Sonuga, and concert pianist and MCS curator, Artina McCain.
