Shoot & Splice: An Evening with Ivan Rodrigues
Crosstown Arts, East Atrium 1350 Concourse Ave., Suite 280, Memphis, TN, United StatesJoin Crosstown Arts and Indie Memphis for an evening with our new Memphis-based Brazilian filmmaker, cinematographer, and colorist Ivan Rodrigues.
Ivan will discuss several aspects of filmmaking from an unique perspective of having worked in Brazil, Los Angeles, and now Memphis. He will also share his secrets on how to simulate a "film look" in digital cameras, why film is actually dead, and how to produce a high-quality image when operating with a low budget.
Shoot & Splice is a monthly forum for filmmakers presented collaboratively by Crosstown Arts & Indie Memphis.

Panelists include filmmakers from The Southern Documentary Project, Mary Knight (SINGING OUT), Rex Jones (BEAUTIFUL JIM), and John Rash (NEGRO TERROR). Moderated by photographer and producer Andrea Morales, the panelists will discuss various aspects of producing music documentaries; from building relationships with musicians to representing diversity in music in the south. The key to Pecha Kucha is the 20×20 format: all presenters show 20 slides for 20 seconds each, making each presentation concise and dynamic. If you’re wondering what “Pecha Kucha” means, it draws its name from the Japanese term for the sound of “chit chat.”

Continuum Music Festival
Crosstown Arts at Crosstown Concourse 1350 Concourse Avenue, Suite 280, Memphis, TN, United StatesA festival of collaborations among musicians and artists of diverse genres from Memphis and beyond, bringing to life unique performances and workshops in the award-winning Crosstown Concourse. Now in its third year, this festival for the adventurous listener will include performances at Crosstown Theater, The Green Room, East Atrium Stage, and a special collaboration with Opera Memphis.
A free festival kick-off performance featuring Blueshift Ensemble and ICEBERG New Music will be held at Crosstown Brewing Company on Thursday, August 15.
