POSTPONED Exhibition Workshop: Generate
** This event is postponed until further notice.
This workshop is held in conjunction with the “STUDIOS” exhibition on view in the Crosstown Arts East Gallery.
Utilizing fabric, paper, paint, and other provided materials, participants will create art pieces inspired by Keiko Gonzalez’s abstractions on view in “STUDIOS.” These pieces will be showcased in a pop-up gallery at the end of the exhibition.
Pecha Kucha: Crosstown Arts Resident Artist Talk
Crosstown Arts resident artists Carl E. Moore, S. Erin Batiste, Adriana Monsalve, Robert Goodman, and Zaire Love will discuss their work in a Pecha Kucha-style artist talk.
The Crosstown Arts residency program offers multidisciplinary residencies to visiting and Memphis-based artists and curators, working in any creative discipline including visual and performing arts, music, film, and writing in all genres.
POSTPONED After-school Exhibition Workshop: Snapshots
** This event is postponed until further notice.
This workshop is in conjunction with “Here Is Where We Meet,” on view in the West Gallery.
Over the course of several sessions, students will amass a body of work based upon specific prompts, such as “choose a person/scene in one of Crosstown Arts’ spaces.” Students will create a sketch with colored pencils and oil pastels, using Susan Lichtman’s work in “Here Is Where We Meet” as inspiration. Exhibition Workshop: Figuratively Speaking
This workshop is held in conjunction with the “Here Is Where We Meet” exhibition on view in the Crosstown Arts West Gallery.
Students will be given samples of writing , and then they’ll create a piece of visual art that represents or reflects that writing sample. Participants will use will use watercolor, colored pencil, crumpled paper, wood, fabric, and paint to create 2D or 3D works. These pieces will amass into a collection that will be showcased in a pop-up ….

Join us for a jazz tribute to the music of saxophonist Grover Washington Jr. featuring Bill Hurd (alto/soprano sax), Keenan Shotwell (piano), Gerard Harris (guitar), Sylvester Sample (bass), and Melvin Robertson (drums).
The Color Wheel Pop-Up Gallery
Students, ages 12-18, spent four weeks in the Color Wheel after-school workshop creating artwork inspired by Color Schemes: The Value of Intensity, on view in the Crosstown Arts West Gallery.
Come see their work on view in a pop-up gallery in the Crosstown Arts East Atrium. Free and open to the public.

Join us for a jazz tribute to the music of pianist Joe Sample featuring Keenan Shotwell (piano), Bryant Lockhart (tenor sax), Kem Gray (bass), Jeremy Wright (guitar), and Tevin Curtis (drums).
Panel Discussion: Colorful Conversation
Artists Anthony Lee, Susan Maakestad, and Justin Bowles, who have work on view in Color Schemes: The Value of Intensity, will join a panel moderated by Dr. Todd Richardson (co-founder of Crosstown Arts), discussing their work and use of color in their art.

The Music of Nat King Cole
Join us for a jazz tribute to American jazz pianist and vocalist Nat King Cole featuring Kennard Farmer (vocals), Carl Caspersen (bass), Darryl Sanford (piano), Jonathan Bass (guitar), and Mike Assad (drums). The Crosstown Jazz Series, presented by Strictly Jazz Entertainment in collaboration with Crosstown Arts, is designed to salute classic jazz music as contemporary musicians perform the work of the legends.
Panel Discussion: Can We Talk?
Inspired by the work of Joey Slaughter, participants will engage in a conversation about controversial topics before spending 10 minutes creating visual representations of how the conversation affected them via drawings of wavelengths.
