Altered Sound Duo (Chris Murphy, saxophone and Nick Fox, percussion) is committed to promoting contemporary repertoire for saxophone and percussion. The duo formed during the spring of 2017 and has performed throughout the Midwest region. During their inaugural tour, the duo performed at universities throughout Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Recently, Altered Sound Duo was chosen as ensemble-in-residence for the 2018 New Music On the Point Festival in Leicester, Vermont and has been invited as ensemble-in-residence to the inaugural 2019 Music In Bloom Festival in Bloomington, Indiana. As advocates for new music, the duo’s primary goal is to commission innovative and virtuosic works for saxophone and percussion. Altered Sound Duo will present a new program during their southeastern tour of the United States, presenting four newly commissioned works in five states.
