Soulful singer/pianist Susan Marshall, along with Art Edmaiston (sax), Logan Hanna (guitar) and Peewee Jackson (drums/percussion), will perform stripped down versions of Susan’s original music as well as some of her favorite cover songs. Susan’s sound is an eclectic mix of bluesy jazz and pop; emotive, evocative, soft and sensual, sometimes loud and bawdy…yet always coming straight from the soul.

Bios:

SUSAN MARSHALL
Recording artist Susan Marshall has released five critically praised solo albums— Susan Marshall Is Honey Mouth, Firefly, Little Red, Decorations of Red, and her latest, 639 Madison. The former front lady for ’90s rock/soul band The Mother Station is also known for her performances with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, as well as her 15-year residency at Itta Bena, located on world-famous Beale Street, just above B.B. King’s.

She’s toured internationally as part of the Afghan Whigs, as well as Cat Power & The Memphis Rhythm Band. She has appeared on Austin City Limits, The Late Show With David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and the BBC’s Later…with Jools Holland and has been a featured artist for Sun Studio sessions on PBS.

Susan is also known for her studio and stage work with a wide range of superstars; Al Green, Lucinda Williams, Keith Richards, Norah Jones, Lenny Kravitz, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ann Peebles, Don Bryant, Foy Vance, North Mississippi Allstars, Solomon Burke, Bobby “Blue” Bland, and Primal Scream to name a few.

Her studio background vocal work has garnered multiple gold and platinum record awards, as well as the distinction of having sung background vocals on five GRAMMY-nominated records. She’s written or co-written songs for American Idol Katharine McPhee (with Austin Carroll), Americana artist Nicki Bluhm (with Matt Ross-Spang), international blues divas Reba Russell, Ana Popovic as well as folk musician William Lee Ellis.

ART EDMAISTON
Art’s passion for playing the saxophone began in the school band at age 11 in Troy, Tennessee. Moving to Memphis to apprentice in the city known for its talented performers and recording artists was the next step upon graduating high school.

Performing nightly on Beale Street playing blues and R&B with some of the world’s greatest entertainers gained Art a reputation for being a soulful soloist and flexible horn section player. This experience has taken him around the world providing opportunities to perform and record with a wide variety of well-known musicians, producers & music legends. Gregg Allman, the Doobie Brothers, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Justin Timberlake, Jonny Lang, Stevie Wonder, Lucero, Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit, North Mississippi Allstars, Allman Brothers Band, Southern Avenue, BJ the Chicago Kid, JJ Grey & Mofro, Don Bryant & The Bo-Keys, John Nemeth, Boo Mitchell, Wayne Newton and the Coasters have all called on Edmaiston for stage and studio work.

LOGAN HANNA
Logan is a Memphis-born guitarist and composer. A servant of song with a deep sensitivity to the musicians he creates with, he loves the thrill of working in different musical settings and bringing a unique voice to those worlds. Drawing from his love of various musical genres, his sound is deeply rooted in the tradition of Jazz but is blended with his love for soul, country, blues, rock ’n’ roll, and world music. Logan has been a vital part of the Memphis music community for 15 plus years and has toured and or recorded with numerous musicians over that time, artists such as Mike Doughty, Obruni Dance Band, Mighty Souls Brass Band, and Grace Askew. He has also been a part of numerous performances with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. A highlight was playing guitar for the Elvis: The Wonder of You national tour, led by conductor Robin Smith in arenas and amphitheaters across the country. Logan continues to push himself in new directions, always in search of new creative heights. Always learning. Always exploring.

PEE WEE JACKSON
From an early age, Pee Wee has been on a journey to be the best musician he can be; living life through his drums with deep feeling, musicality and technical prowess. His talent has led him to winning first place in the Guitar Center’s Drum-Off 2002 through 2008. An in-demand-drummer in both the Nashville and Memphis music scene, Pee Wee has recorded in the studio and/or performed live with Susan Marshall, J Blackfoot, Kirk Whalum, Canaan Smith, Florida Georgia Line, Lenny White, Chaka Khan, Preston Shannon, P Diddy, Nelly, Victor Wooten and Bob Mosses, to name a few. The journey continues and his beat goes on!
