Come enjoy Once Upon a Star, an original children's story featuring audience participation and musical accompaniment by members of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. Created by MSO principal oboist Joseph Salvalaggio, Babu Press performances use classical music to help kids develop an appreciation for the arts and foster a love of reading. The performances are entertaining for audiences of all ages, from toddlers to adults. 

This performance features MSO musicians Barrie Cooper (violin), Nobuko Igarashi (clarinet), and Joseph Salvalaggio (oboe). Narrated by Todd Berry.

From award-winning singer-songwriter Jamie Purnell, Proud Penguin tells the feel-good tale of a penguin whose spirits are lifted from building a new friendship with a seagull. Proud Penguin will delight and entertain families as they read and sing along to the free downloadable song and story that embodies a universal message of kindness and self-acceptance.

This interactive event includes a discussion of penguins and seagulls, a reading of the story, singing and dancing to a live performance of the "Proud Penguin" song by Jamie Purnell, and a booksigning, all promoting the message of Proud Penguin: BE HAPPY TO BE YOU. A fun event for all ages.
