About Bryant Lockhart:
Bryant Lockhart is a gospel and jazz saxophonist/arranger/composer from Memphis, TN. His sound and style is greatly influenced by the artistry of musicians like Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, John Coltrane, Sonny Stitt, Charlie Parker, and Joshua Redman to name a few. Yet the core of his music is deeply rooted in the spiritual from his upbringing in the church. Bryant splits his time as an educator at Southwest TN Community College tutoring in math and science, a private music instructor at Christian Brothers High School, and touring with jazz legend Dee Dee Bridgewater.

Music is a passion and a release for Bryant. He has been part of a number of ensembles over the years as a member and featured soloist. These ensembles include The University of Memphis Southern Comfort Jazz Ensemble, The New Memphis Hepcats, The Sanctuary Jazz Orchestra, Revelation Instrumental Band, The Underground Band, The Charles Pender Quartet, the Northern Mississippi Jurisdictional Orchestra, and the J.O. Patterson Fine Arts Orchestra of the Church of God in Christ. He has been featured on several CD projects and has worked with numerous local artists such as Billy Gibson, Bryant Swearingen, Reginald Harris, and Candice Ivory.

About Michael Shults:
Saxophonist Michael Shults has been praised for his “strong, imaginative” improvisations (Downbeat Magazine) and “fresh and intelligent musical ideas” (The Pitch). A first-call musician on the Kansas City jazz scene for nearly a decade, Shults remains an active performer in the Fountain City and beyond and has twice appeared as a sideman on the Jazzweek National Radio Airplay Charts. In 2018, Dr. Shults was selected to perform at the North American Saxophone Alliance Conference Friday night headline concert as a featured soloist along with Branford Marsalis. As a graduate student at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Michael was a finalist in the 2012 North America Saxophone Alliance Jazz Artist Competition, and was the winner of the Graduate College Soloist category in the 2012 Downbeat Magazine Student Music Awards Issue.

Equally adept as a concert saxophonist, Shults has been praised for his “jaw-dropping” and “authoritative”technique (Bill Brownlee of the Kansas City Star) and has performed by invitation at the College Band Director’s National Association conference, the North American Saxophone Alliance biennial conference and the University of Iowa Festival for New Music. He is a founding faculty member of the Kansas City Saxophone Workshop along with Zach Shemon, alto saxophonist of the PRISM Quartet. Dr. Shults has also served on the faculty of the Eugene Rousseau Saxophone Workshop at Shell Lake Arts Center. Michael is Assistant Professor of Saxophone at the University of Memphis and previously held the same position at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

He is a Yamaha and D’Addario performing artist and performs on their instruments and reeds exclusively.

About David Edwards:
Outgoing. Tenacious. Loyal. Those are just three words one would use to capture the essence of David Edwards. A native of Kansas City, Kansas, he’s been deemed a musical genius. He has always had a vivid interest in music. From a very young age, he was captivated by the melodic lines, rhythmic beats and the pulsating vocals of artists like Lauryn Hill, Karen Clark Sheard, and John P. Kee. It would prove to be an interest that would provoke Edwards to stay on a musical course and find his voice. His divine path ultimately led him to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. From there, he would continue finding his voice while living his dream in Memphis, Tennessee — a city known for its eclectic mix of blues, gospel, rock, pop, and soul music.

In July 2011, Edwards obtained his Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Phoenix. At the present, he is making an impact on young scholars as the Music and Voice Instructor at KIPP: Memphis Collegiate Middle School. For the past seven years, Edwards has lead the charge as the Praise and Worship Leader at the historic Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church in Memphis each week, creating an atmosphere for the people of God to draw closer to His presence. Edwards is an advocate for the youth and a connoisseur of music. He aspires to open his own school for gifted and talented students in the area of music.

Not forsaking his own musical career ambitions, Edwards’ musical talents have afforded him the opportunity to share the stage with some of the most amazing figures in the Gospel Music industry today, such as multiple award winning artists, Maurette Brown Clark, Dorinda Clark Cole, Smokie Norful, Donnie McClurkin and Vashawn Mitchell.
