Shea Hembrey

Shea Hembrey’s work questions reality. He seriously explores our best current understanding of the structure of reality while also often playing trickster using identity or trompe l’oeil techniques. His work often engages current mysteries in physics about how nature is structured – dark matter, dark energy, base particles, etc.  A Mid-South native, his creative practice is often connected to his family’s farm in northeast Arkansas. You can learn more about Shea and his work online through coverage on NPR, PBS, in a New York Times Magazine profile, and a popular TED talk.

“I believe in soul-filled art with masterful craftsmanship and intellectual rigor. I focus on exploring big questions and speaking to a broad audience while playfully transcending my self and identity.”
