Kelundra Smith is a storyteller whose mission is to connect people to cultural experiences and each other. Her work delves into the lives of people who were unafraid to abandon the familiar, start over, and risk losing everything in the name of self-determination. Imagining a vibrant future for Black people and other people of color is central to her work as a playwright,. “because our best days are before us.” The plays in the Reconstruction Trilogy {The Wash, The Vote, and The Knot) highlights the trials and triumphs of Black Georgians after the Civil War.
