Desmond Beach is a New York–based interdisciplinary artist and educator whose work centers on Black joy, healing, and historical reflection. Originally from Baltimore, he holds both BFA and MFA degrees from the Maryland Institute College of Art. His practice spans sculpture, costume, fiber arts, performance, and installation, often addressing social injustices and sacred forms of healing. Beach has held fellowships and residencies across the country and served as a visiting artist and lecturer at various institutions. He sees his art as a calling—merging activism, spirituality, and storytelling to transform pain into power.
