Arriel Vinson
Arriel Vinson’s work centers on being young, Black, and in search of freedom. More distinctly, it examines the absence of freedom in spaces that are otherwise conceptualized as free. Arriel sets out to interrogate barriers, boundaries, and the containers of Blackness through the lens of the justice system, as well as the limitations of Black people in spaces that are endlessly policed. Overall, her work reimagines what liberation looks like and works to constantly make real on the page what seems implausible otherwise.
