Adele Ferguson

Adele Ferguson is a painter, animator, and muralist based in Memphis, Tennessee. Her paintings show multiple figures in intimate relationships, in vibrant, dream-like environments. To communicate strong emotions, she uses bold colors and paints in the language of collage, working in conversation with surrealist artists such as Leonora Carrington, Frida Kahlo, and David Lynch.

Two main research interests inform her work: the psychology of interpersonal relationships and the neuroscience of dreams. By making paintings, she investigates characters and moments from waking life and the dream world. She hopes her paintings will both remind people of humanity’s inherent connection to one another and inspire forgiveness and returning to each other.
