Voices Up! Open Mic

Sign up to perform original spoken word about whatever subject you choose. Or simply come and enjoy.

The Crosstown Arts youth beat-making workshop taught by Sunny Dizzle will present its final culmination of work through a beat battle. Original music by youth will be showcased throughout this event.

Location: Crosstown Concourse Theatre Stair, 2nd Floor of the Central Atrium

Twenty spots available for poets. To sign up, email jazmin@crosstownarts.org. Please list “Voices Up!” in the subject line of your email, plus your name, age, and the title of the spoken word piece that you will perform. In the event that all 20 spots do not fill up, open sign-ups are welcome before event begins.

The guidelines:
  • Subject matter of can pertain to anything.
  • Performers must be 13 and up.
  • Each performance has a 3-minute limit.
  • Individual and group signups are welcome. One group counts as one signup.
  • This event is not a competitive slam, simply an open mic.
  • The first 20 individuals/groups to email jazmin@crosstownarts.org will be listed in the line-up. Ten spots are reserved for teens. A waiting list will be kept in case performers cancel.
  • Remember that kids will be present. Chose your (strong) words and subjects wisely.
