Crosstown Arts resident artists Michael “Birdcap” Roy and Eso Tolson will discuss their work.
About the artists:
Michael Roy is an Memphis College of Art graduate, a muralist, and an illustrator from Moss Point, Mississippi. He has painted murals in multiple countries including The United States, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Germany. His style is inspired by the legends and mythologies of the parts of the world he has traveled in. His illustrations can be found monthly in Busan HAPS and Groove Korea.
Eso Tolson is a freelance creative director/designer who moved to Memphis from East St. Louis to attend Memphis College of Art. He specializes in brand identity design and developing creative content. His passions include music, typography, pop culture, and inner city life. Eso’s hand lettering has in been featured in local Memphis galleries, blogs such as Choose901.com, and on the official downtown Memphis street banners.
