Based at the Murrayville Library of North Georgia\, where we perform twice a month\, we are a vibrant collective of performers locally and from across the United States. In addition to our local performances\, we travel to present new music composed by our members and colleagues from the National Association of Composers (NACUSA). \n\n\n\nFounded in 2023 at the Murrayville Library\, we have since presented at universities\, historical sites\, art galleries\, and national conferences with our performances. We were also featured on NACUSA’s Sounds New inaugural album released by SkyDeck Records\, which earned a Global Music Award. Proudly championing the work of living composers\, we bring unique\, engaging programs to audiences around the globe.

Dame uses his visual arts background to bring additional texture to his overall aesthetic and live show production demanding rap music be respected as high art from the ghetto to the gallery. \n\n\nNegro Terror is the brainchild of Omar Higgins with the help of family and others. Before Omars untimely passing his wishes were for his family to keep it going (the band and other projects) if things take a turn for the worst. With new line up lead by brother David Higgins (Vox/Guitar) and a rotating roster of amazing musicians. \n\n\n

They are the daughters and back-up singers for their father\, the late great Rev. John Wilkins. The Wilkins Sisters were brought up singing in the church inspired by their mother (Betty Maxwell Wilkins) and father (Rev. John Wilkins) and mix gospel\, blues and R&B to make a music that is moving\, soulful\, and uplifting. As little girls they used to open for their father at services\, shows\, and picnics. Growing up they had their own groups and singing projects as well\, and Tangela\, the leader of the trio has had her own band\, Tan and The Violinettes\, for over 25 yearsThe daughters came back together about 10 years ago when they were asked to accompany their father on several songs on his award winning first full-length record\, You Can’t Hurry God\, on Fat Possum’s Big Legal Mess label. \nThe daughters called themselves 3D\, short for\, 3 Daughters\, when singing with their father. They went on to tour with him for the next 10 years entertaining crowds and festivals worldwide. For Reverend Wilkins’ second release\, Trouble\, recorded at famed Royal Studios and released by Memphis label Goner Records\, Rev Wilkins wanted his daughters featured more prominently and that’s exactly what he did. Trouble features the daughters ‘strong soulful vocal leads as well their warm\, distinctive harmonies. Upon their father’s untimely passing\, Tangela\, Joyce and Tawana decided to get back together to honor their father and continue the family tradition as The Wilkins Sisters.

Her intention is to connect with her audience\, giving them the space to heal\, laugh\, enjoy themselves and be free in that moment. DESCRIPTION:The Green Room at Crosstown Arts\nTuesday\, May 9\, 2023\nDoors at 7 pm | Show at 7:30 pm\n$25 | $20 in advance ($10 student tickets at the door) \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE \nAn exceptional guitarist with a beautiful sound and great fluidity\, a unique composer that blends Brazilian music\, classical music\, and jazz\, Chico’s been nominated twice for the American Grammy Awards (in 2019 & 2020). \nBorn and raised in São Paulo\, Brazil\, he started playing the guitar when he was 6 years old. At 14\, he started working as a studio session guitarist and soon began to be called to collaborate with a wide range of artists in his hometown\, then in Brazil\, then abroad. In 2002 Chico put together a band of his own and started recording as a leader. His first album\, ‘Meia Noite Meio Dia’ (Sony Music/ 2003)\, was released in 2003 with great reviews at all the most important newspapers and music magazines in Brazil and abroad and was included in the ‘Top 10 Brazilian albums of the year’ in the major newspapers of Brazil: ‘O Estado de São Paulo\,’ ‘A Folha de São Paulo’ and ‘O Globo.’ This well-received debut included special guest vocalists Lenine\, Ed Motta\, Chico César\, and Maria Rita. \nHis second release\, ‘Chico Pinheiro’ (Biscoito Fino/ 2005)\, enjoyed great critical and audience acclaim\, once more being included in the ‘Top 10 Brazilian albums of the year’ by newspapers’ O Estado\,’ ‘O Globo’ and ‘Folha de São Paulo.’ The third album\, NOVA\, was released in Dec/ 2007 in collaboration with the American guitarist and composer Anthony Wilson. It was\, again\, celebrated by critics and the audience. \nHis fourth album\, There’s a Storm Inside (CT Music Japan/ Sunnyside Records\, NY\, 2010)\, was released in 35 countries. It included guests such as Dianne Reeves and Bob Mintzer. It was featured on the downbeat\, Revista Veja\, O Estado de São Paulo\, Folha de São Paulo\, Jornal O GLOBO\, and Revista Rolling Stone among the ‘best albums of the year.’ This record also won prizes as Best Brazilian Jazz Álbum of the year and Best Latin Jazz Composition of 2010 with ‘Mamulengo’ in the Latin Jazz Corner Association\, USA. Chico also won as Best Latin Jazz Guitarist in the same association. \nIn 2012 he released the CD’ TRIZ’ in partnership with the pianist and composer André Mehmari and singer and composer Sergio Santos. Meanwhile\, in the Downbeat Magazine Annual Critics Poll\, Chico has been listed (three times) as “Rising Star – Guitar.” In 2017 Chico released “Varanda\,” a unique collaboration project which all major papers and magazines in Brazil and abroad included as ‘best of the year’ again. His composition “Varanda” is performed by Vince Mendoza and the WDR Big Band on the Project “Focus on Brazil”\, along with Milton Nascimento\, Edu Lobo\, Gilberto Gil\, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Villa Lobos. \nToday Chico is considered a leading figure in – and outside the Brazilian music scene\, who has distinguished himself as a guitarist\, composer\, and arranger.
