DESCRIPTION:Soldering is at the core of every electronics project. In this demonstration\, instructor Gino Barzizza will build an LED Metatron Cube that will correspond to the days of the week. Turn it on and the current will flow. Learn tips and tricks to get you started on your journey into DIY electronics. Join us to learn more\, Q&A throughout the session. \nInstructors\nGino and Diana Barzizza \nPrice\nFree\nRegister on Eventbrite \nRequirements\nNo experience or prior knowledge of soldering or electronics is required. \nClass Structure \nThis is a two hour class in four parts: \nPart One \n\nBest practices and safety training\nBreadboarding circuits and reading schematics\nIntroduction to theory behind electronic circuit: how does it work?\nParticipants will learn about components\, voltage\, amperage\, resistors\, switches and batteries\n\nPart Two \n\nLearning to Solder: Teaching beginners how to solder and get comfortable with handling a soldering iron by tinning a wire\, splicing wires and soldering components into an actual circuit.\n\nPart Three \n\nBegin soldering circuit for LED lights based on schematic\nConnect wires\, resistors\, switches and battery clips in the correct channel to turn on LED light.\n\nPart Four \n\nOverview of concepts and skills learned\nPlace circuit in enclosure and test circuit\nHow to safely use and understand your light\n\nEverything you need will be provided. \nPersonalized Electronics Kit Materials include: \n\nSoldering station: Soldering iron and stand\nBreadboard and multi-colored wires\nSolder\, red and black wire\nBatteries and battery clip\nSponges and steel wool\nDrill and drill press\nWire and jewel cutters\n\nParticipants will leave with an understanding of integrated circuits and be able to identify a wide array of components and read schematics. Practice kits equipped with tools to hone your soldering skills will be available for purchase.
