She sang with Lionel Hampton and toured with him. She appeared at The Blue Note\, Iridium\, Birdland\, and Dizzy’s Jazz Club at Lincoln Center. She appeared with Steve Allen at The Town Hall at The Apollo Theater and recorded an album of Allen’s songs. In 2005\, she performed and recorded with the Kenny Werner Trio at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. She has worked with Kenny Barron\, Christian McBride\, Elvin Jones\, Gary Bartz\, Kevin Mahogany\, and David “Fathead” Newman\, all of whom have appeared on her recordings. She was a guest on Marian McPartland’s radio program\, Piano Jazz. Her album\, The Music of Randy Newman\, received 4 1/2 stars in Down Beat magazine and a Grammy nomination for Best Jazz Vocal Album in 2012. \nAbout the series:\nThe Modern Masters Jazz Series is guest-curated by renowned two-decade New Orleans jazz guitarist Ted Ludwig\, who has received an ASCAP award\, the Louis Armstrong award\, and the Overture to the Cultural Season award\, and is a member of The Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame. Each month in 2020\, Crosstown Arts welcomes jazz artists from New Orleans\, NYC\, LA\, and beyond\, who will perform with The Ted Ludwig Trio. Highlights include Roseanna Vitro\, who has sung with Christian McBride\, Elvin Jones\, and Lionel Hampton; Ed Cherry\, of Dizzy Gillespie’s band; GRAMMY-winner Victor Atkins; and Dee Dee Bridgewater saxophonist Ed Peterson.

SUMMARY:POSTPONED Yearning Horizons
DESCRIPTION:This event has been postponed until further notice. \nNew works by Savannah White \nThis will be White’s first solo show. White is an avid traveler\, and Yearning Horizons is a new body of work inspired by her travel experiences. The show is produced and curated by IntrepidArts. \nThe exhibition will open on Friday\, June 26 from 6-8 pm\, and the show will be on view Saturday\, June 27\, 10 am-1 pm. \nOrganized by the artist. \nEntitled Yearning Horizons\, the show reflects an overwhelming passion of the artist: travel. Amsterdam\, Cape Town\, Bangkok\, Milan\, Granada\, Osaka\, Dublin\, Singapore\, London\, Barcelona\, Mt. Fuji\, Paris. \nFrom Brazil to Croatia\, the travel bug is not simply adventure for White but inspiration. Her intellectual curiosity and cultural inhaling takes shape and is expressed in her paintings — some more abstract\, some more representational\, all breathing a spirit of irrepressible wonder in fluid color and motion. \nSelf-taught as a painter\, White’s forays into fashion and experience with photography help shape her ability to capture expression. Now in her third show in two years and her first solo show in a large space\, she stretches effortlessly with the works. \n“I see so much when I travel\, both beauty and despair; it shapes my perspective and who I am. Painting is the best way I know to share the experience of this kind of awakening. I am ever learning how much I don’t know about the world\, and it is an exhilarating thrill\,” said White.
