SUMMARY:The Evergreen Sessions: Hosted by Brandon Blvd
DESCRIPTION:Brandon Blvd hosts The Evergreen Sessions in the Green Room\, emphasizing independent/underground artists locally and beyond. Featuring special guests Mai Ty\, Idaly Maceano\, Cadillac Jack\, and Virghost and the Saturday Sunset band. \n\nThe Green Room at Crosstown Arts\nFriday\, September 23\, 2022\nDoors open at 7pm | Show begins at 7:30pm \nTickets: $15 in advance | $20 at the door\nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE \nBrandon Love Jackson (born April 5\, 1991)\, known professionally as Brandon Blvd\, is an American Hip-Hop artist from Memphis\, Tennessee. In 2020\, he released his most recent EP Safer at Home to the public which yielded support and allowed him to begin generating local recognition. \nAs a former Crosstown Arts resident artist\, Brandon was able to actively collaborate with artists from different walks\, backgrounds\, and practices. This inspired him to explore the creation of similar art spaces in collaboration with Crosstown Arts in order to continue the sharing of ideas\, vibes\, and perspectives through music. As an artist and Memphis native\, Brandon hopes that the Evergreen Sessions will allow such environments to take place for the foreseeable future. \nIn paying homage to Memphis’ Historic Evergreen district in mind\, the “Evergreen Sessions” seeks to serve as a quarterly showcase of musical talents from a wide scale of artists with various backgrounds\, and perspectives. This will be the first session of hopefully many more to come that sheds light and emphasizes independent/underground artists locally and beyond. Although there’s a focus on shining light on underground/independent Hip Hop & R&B artists\, the Evergreen Sessions seeks to create an all-inclusive space of collaboration for all musical creatives and genres.

SUMMARY:Crosstown Arthouse presents BRANDED TO KILL
DESCRIPTION:The Crosstown Arthouse Film Series presents BRANDED TO KILL at Crosstown Theater. \nSeijun Suzuki / 1967 / 91 minutes / N/R\nTickets: $5 at the door\nFilms begin at 7:30 pm (sharp!) at Crosstown Theater \nWhen Japanese new wave bad boy Seijun Suzuki delivered this brutal\, hilarious\, and visually inspired masterpiece to the executives at his studio\, he was promptly fired. Branded to Kill tells the ecstatically bent story of a yakuza assassin with a fetish for sniffing steamed rice (the chipmunk-cheeked superstar Joe Shishido) who botches a job and ends up a target himself. This is Suzuki at his most extreme — the flabbergasting pinnacle of his ’60s pop-art aesthetic. \nThe Crosstown Arthouse Film Series showcases a diverse collection of independent\, international\, historically significant\, artistic\, experimental\, cult\, underground and documentary features.

SUMMARY:Invoke Multi-String Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Crosstown Arts presents multi-string quartet INVOKE at Crosstown Theater. \n\n\n\n\n\nCrosstown Theater\nFriday\, September 16\, 2022\nDoors 7pm | Concert 7:30pm \nTickets: $20 advance | $25 day of the show ($10 student tickets)\nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE \nDescribed as “not classical…but not not classical” (David Srebnik\, SiriusXM Classical Producer)\, Invoke continues to successfully dodge even the most valiant attempts at genre classification. The multi-instrumental band’s other ‘not-nots’ encompass traditions from across America\, including bluegrass\, Appalachian fiddle tunes\, jazz\, and minimalism. Invoke weaves all of these styles together to create truly individual music written by and for the group. \nThe band has recently garnered major prizes at international competitions including winning First Prize at the M-Prize International Chamber Arts competition in Ann Arbor\, MI\, the First Prize in the Coltman Competition in Austin\, TX\, and the “New Music/New Places” prize at Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition in New York. The group’s 20-21 season will take them across North America performing concert engagements and participating in major educational residencies. Highlights include performances at Lincoln Center\, Norton Center for the Arts\, Newberry Opera House and Green Music Center. \nInvoke has shared the stage with some of the most acclaimed ensembles in the country\, ranging from the Ensō Quartet to the U.S. Army Field Band\, and has also appeared with musicians in greatly varying genres – from chamber rock powerhouse San Fermin to DC beatboxer/rapper/spoons virtuoso Christylez Bacon. \nInvoke’s debut release Souls in the Mud\, and their follow-up Furious Creek\, both feature original works composed by and for the group\, plus the quartet has also performed and recorded numerous world premieres. Invoke believes in championing diverse American voices\, including their ongoing commissioning project American Postcards\, which asks composers to pick a time and place in American history and tell their story through Invoke’s unique artistry. \nInvoke is currently based in Austin\, Texas. \nThis programming is made possible in part thanks to an Organizational Development Fund grant from New Music USA.

SUMMARY:Fula Brothers
DESCRIPTION:Doors open at 7pm | Show begins at 7:30pm\nTickets: $20 advance | $25 at the door \nPurchase tickets here \nFula Brothers are a burst of unbridled creative musicianship and happy making. A high spirited meeting of veteran performers from West Africa and America\, each with a history of innovation and collaboration with some of the beloved musicians of these cultures. Together they weave West African hunter’s harp\, fingerstyle guitar\, drums\, vocals\, and a bounty of improvisation into an ecstatic groove based dialogue which the heart – and the feet – cannot resist. \nMamadou Sidibe \nMaster kamale ngoni player\, Mamadou Sidibe\, is from the Wassoulou Region of Mali\, West Africa. Twenty-five years ago\, Mamadou played a groundbreaking role in the transformation of this region’s music from its origins in hunters’ sacred melodies – played on six string donso ngoni (hunter’s harps) – to a music of philosophical observations\, politics\, and daily life. Mamadou was one of the first to expand the instrument’s range with two extra strings\, creating the popular kamale ngoni. He has recently enhanced the kamale ngoni even further by devising 10 and 12-stringed instruments. \nMamadou\, with artists Coumba Sidibe\, Oumou Sangare and Ramata Diakite\, spread the new sounds through recordings and performances in Europe\, Africa and the United States. Not only is Mamadou an award-winning musician and master of the kamale ngoni\, he is accomplished on several other African instruments as well. \n“At the center of his music is the same sensibility that you’ll find in Muddy Waters: a sense of music as a tool for the re-creation of everyday life into something special\, even magical.” ~ Stylus \nWalter Strauss \nFingerstyle guitarist Walter Strauss’s multi-layered style draws on American roots\, jazz\, classical\, and cultural guitar traditions – but what makes his playing utterly unique is how it is informed by other global stringed instruments. He has delved deep into the harp traditions of West Africa\, integrating elements of their richly layered styles and rhythmic sensibilities with his own\, and rendering traditional pieces on the guitar. Walter has collaborated with revered practitioners of the kora (the 21-stringed West African harp) and with early kamale ngoni (hunter’s harp) innovator Mamadou Sidibe. Malian kora legend Toumani Diabate calls Walter’s guitar rendering of the music of the kora “inspirational”\, and proposed Walter’s collaboration with his son\, Sidiki Diabate\, a West African star in his own right. \nIn addition to his solo CDs and performances across the US & UK\, Walter’s collaborations have spanned an impressive range of musicians\, from maverick multi-instrumentalist Joe Craven and Grammy-winning Malian kora player Mamadou Diabate to Scottish fiddler Johnny Hardie and Grammy-nominated guitar maestro Alex de Grassi. He has performed internationally at venues like the Kennedy Center\, the Celtic Connections Festival in Scotland\, and Le Diplomate in Bamako\, Mali. Recently\, he created music for the Ken Burns documentary film “Defying the Nazis.” \n“A many-layered\, multi-textured\, one-man folk festival” ~ Maverick Magazine

SUMMARY:Crosstown Arthouse presents LONG WEEKEND
DESCRIPTION:The Crosstown Arthouse Film Series presents LONG WEEKEND at Crosstown Theater. \nColin Eggleston / 1979 / 97 minutes / N/R\nTickets: $5 at the door\nFilms begin at 7:30 pm (sharp!) at Crosstown Theater \nLong Weekend has notes of Possession’s marital anarchy\, with a healthy amount of Hitchcockian flair and the stark hellscapes of The Seventh Seal transposed onto the unforgiving Outback. Essential viewing. \nAttempting to resurrect their failing marriage\, Peter and Marcia trample through the deserted countryside\, hoping a long weekend will patch up their differences. As they inadvertently destroy everything in their tracks\, scattering garbage and shooting anything that moves\, their callous disregard becomes apparent to them when the animals seek vengeance! \nThe Crosstown Arthouse Film Series showcases a diverse collection of independent\, international\, historically significant\, artistic\, experimental\, cult\, underground and documentary features.

SUMMARY:Folk All Y'all presents Grace Pettis
DESCRIPTION:Doors open at 7pm | Show begins at 7:30pm\nTickets: $20+\n\nPurchase tickets here\n \nGrace epitomizes the term singer/songwriter. As a singer\, her voice is both powerful and beautiful\, and she uses it like a fine arts painter to color and craft her songs. American Songwriter Magazine wrote “As a decorated songwriter\, Pettis blurs the lines between country\, Americana and folk. Her soulful delivery of calculated lyric lines helps her tell stories for all generations.” Her songs have been recorded by many esteemed artists\, including Sara Hickman and Ruthie Foster. For Grace\, who has been characterized as “a little bit folk\, a little bit country/Americana\, and a whole lot of soul\,” 2020 had many silver linings. She signed with MPress Records\, released three critically acclaimed singles — “Landon\,” “White Noise\,” and “Drop Another Pin\,” — and recorded Working Woman in Nashville employing an all-female/non-binary creative team.\n\n \n\nMinimum ticket price is $20 but you can name-your-own price above that if you’re feeling it. 100% of ticket revenue goes to our artists (you can see where any fees go in the check-out breakdown). Yep\, all of it. Folk All Yall is volunteer-run and subscriber-supported. Shows are presented in partnership with Crosstown Arts at The Green Room in Crosstown Concourse. \nAbout Folk All Y’all: Intimate\, attentive performances by exceptional singer-songwriters\, proudly presented in Memphis\, Folk All Y’all is a public listening room series dedicated to providing artists and audiences with unforgettable music experiences. \n\n

And Ivan’s ex-wife Lucia (Julieta Serrano) was just released from a 20-year stint in a mental institution. SUMMARY:An Evening with Elizabeth King: The Sacred Soul Queen of Memphis
DESCRIPTION:Advance tickets are now sold out\, but a limited number of tickets will be for sale at the door beginning at 7PM. \nDoors open at 7pm | Show begins at 7:30pm\nTickets: $15 in advance | $20 at the door \nPurchase tickets here \nElizabeth King recorded her first single in 1970\, and if all had gone as planned\, she would have made her first album a few years later. Instead\, it took another half century for King to release her 2021 album Living In The Last Days\, which captured King at the height of her powers\, with the intervening decades only serving to stoke the flames of one of the most memorable voices in modern gospel music. Now Elizabeth is back with yet another collection of offerings\, each more fiery than the last. I Got a Love is a testament to her dedication to God\, her family and to her craft. \nMost of the material on I Got a Love was drawn from pioneering 70s gospel DJ/producer Juan D. Shipp’s D-Vine Spirituals Records catalog. Elizabeth was the flagship artist on the label and her early recordings are part of Bible & Tire’s ongoing D-Vine Spirituals reissue series including their latest compilations Sacred Soul: The D-Vine Spirituals Records Story Volume 1 and 2. \nShipp\, an 83 year old producer\, DJ and longtime manager of Elizabeth\, didn’t miss the chance to be back in the studio with Elizabeth\, egging her on. This 60 year old relationship has flourished as the recordings indicate. Once the album was thought to have been completed\, Watson had one more trick up his sleeve. He enlisted Mississippi rhythm & blues shaman Jimbo Mathus (Squirrel Nut Zippers\, Buddy Guy\, Andrew Bird) to produce one more cut for the record. \nI Got A Love shows a different side of King. A more raw and vibrant side. The songs have more energy\, more stamina and drive harder than her previous release without compromising the integrity of King’s glorious voice and personality. It’s as if Elizabeth was just getting warmed up with her 2021 album Living In the Last Days and now the stage is set with this new offering. \nThe true concept of sacred soul can be found in earnest on tracks like “I Need The Lord” and “My Robe\,” which find King and company weaving that historic Memphis Soul Sound within the gospel framework\, always keen on delivering the sacred message. The real gem however\, can be found within the two and a half minute acapella performance of “Give Me Wings.” \nKing\, accompanied by her daughters in the round sing the words “As I go from door to door\, loved ones gone\, I won’t see ‘em down here no more. That makes me feel like flying away\, to be at rest.” Elizabeth’s delivery is personal. Not only does she sing for the love and loss of her late husband years ago\, but for all of the many who have gone on before her. I Got a Love is a testament to the many years Elizabeth has spent honing her craft and patiently waiting for her moment.

SUMMARY:The Peace Chronicles\, Part 2 (ICEBERG + Blueshift + Yolanda Sealey-Ruiz)
DESCRIPTION:ICEBERG New Music\, Blueshift Ensemble\, and acclaimed poet Yolanda Sealey-Ruiz present “The Peace Chronicles (Part 2)” at Crosstown Theater. \n\n\n\n\n\nCrosstown Theater\nFriday\, August 19\, 2022\nDoors at 7pm | Performance at 7:30pm \nTickets: pay-what-you-can\nPURCHASE TICKETS / RSVP HERE \nICEBERG New Music\, Blueshift Ensemble\, and acclaimed poet Yolanda Sealey-Ruiz present “The Peace Chronicles (Part 2)\,” an evening of music and spoken word focused on finding peace in a violent and chaotic world. Blueshift Ensemble will perform works by Alex Burtzos\, Derek Cooper\, Jack Frerer\, Jessica Mays\, Max Grafe\, as well as new music by Becky Turro. Dr. Sealey-Ruiz will read from her recent book The Peace Chronicles. \nAfter the performance\, the poet\, performers\, and composers will join audience members for drinks and discussion. \nABOUT THE MUSIC \nThe Peace Chronicles is a two-evening program of poetry and music created as a collaboration between composer collective ICEBERG New Music (www.icebergnewmusic.com) and award-winning poet and scholar Yolanda Sealey-Ruiz (www.yolandasealeyruiz.com). The program premiered to sold-out audiences in New York City in Spring 2022. Each of the newly-composed works included in The Peace Chronicles is inspired by a poem from Dr. Sealey-Ruiz’s book of the same name. In performance\, the words and music are juxtaposed next to one another\, inviting listeners to find connections between the different media. The programs are structured dramatically\, the poems tracing a path from conflict through reconciliation and peace. \nABOUT ICEBERG NEW MUSIC \nICEBERG New Music is a collective of ten young composers based in New York City. ICEBERG’s mission is to promote the idea that substance\, not surface\, is the heart of music creation and perception. The collective’s ten member composers hail from different schools of thought and cultivate radically different sounds — from musical theater and indie rock to avant-garde sounds and electronic installations — but their contrasting musical languages belie a shared emphasis on structure and depth of meaning. When these artists compose for the same ensemble and present their works during a joint concert\, the result is a glimpse into the ever-widening possibilities of art music in the twenty-first century. \nABOUT YOLANDA SEALEY-RUIZ \nDr. Yolanda Sealey-Ruiz is an award-winning Associate Professor at Teachers College\, Columbia University. Her research focuses on racial literacy in teacher education\, Black girl literacies\, and Black and Latinx male high school students. A sought-after speaker on issues of race\, culturally responsive pedagogy\, and diversity\, Sealey-Ruiz works with K-12 and higher education school communities to increase their racial literacy knowledge and move toward more equitable school experiences for their Black and Latinx students. Sealey-Ruiz appeared in Spike Lee’s “2 Fists Up: We Gon’ Be Alright”\, a documentary about the Black Lives Matter movement and the campus protests at Mizzou. Her co-authored book [with Dr. Detra Price-Dennis] Advancing Racial Literacies in Teacher Education: Toward Activism for Equity in Digital Spaces will be published in April 2021. \nABOUT BLUESHIFT ENSEMBLE \nBlueshift is a Memphis-based contemporary chamber music ensemble dedicated to bringing artists and audiences together through artistic collaboration. By programming both new and existing classical repertoire alongside multi-genre collaborations\, Blueshift aims to connect a wider audience to today’s classical music. Members of Blueshift are involved in almost every corner of the Memphis music community\, from performing in the Memphis Symphony Orchestra\, recording in the studio\, teaching at the University of Memphis and Rhodes College\, playing in your favorite local bands\, and composing original music for film. Founded by flutist Jenny Davis and cellist Jonathan Kirkscey in 2016\, Blueshift aims to bring classical music out of the concert hall and into the community. \nThis programming is made possible in part thanks to an Organizational Development Fund grant from New Music USA.

\n\n\n\n\n\nThis programming is made possible in part thanks to an Organizational Development Fund grant from New Music USA.

SUMMARY:Keia Johnson: Love is Reckless
DESCRIPTION:Doors at 5:30pm | Show begins at 6:00pm\nTickets: $25 advance | $30 at the door \nPurchase tickets here \nA show with some surprises and new music! Keia will take you through her catalogue and let you hear some new music before it’s available to the masses. This is a mature show\, as Keia will be more transparent than she ever has\, ages 21 and up strongly suggested. As she is transitioning into some other roles\, you don’t want to miss what may be one of her last live performances in Memphis. This will be an experience you won’t soon forget! \nKeia Johnson \nKeia was born in San Antonio\, TX but grew up all over the world in a military family. Keia listened to a wide range of artists. But it was the move to Memphis that helped her establish her sound and performance style. She has performed with some of the best talent Memphis has to offer\, while also building relationships with notable national names like The Bar-Kays and David Porter of Stax Records. \nIn college\, Keia was able to use her gift to secure scholarships and it was one competition in particular that began to shape her life. In 2003\, Keia made history by being crowned only the third African-American Miss ASU (Arkansas State University). The same university that Miss America 1990 Debbye Turner attended and was crowned the first African-American Miss ASU.  Keia went on to the Miss Arkansas Pageant where she was crowned Miss Congeniality\, a name that stuck with her for years to come. She graduated with a degree in Communications emphasis Radio/Television Broadcasting and a minor in Political Science. But the arts kept calling her name. \nYears later\, It was American Idol that served as the true catalyst for Keia to recognize who she was as an Artist and what she wanted to do with her career. The talent competition led her to Hollywood where “Miss Congeniality” wowed the judges for two seasons. Her audition performance of Celine Dion’s vocally rigorous “My Heart Will Go On” prompted guest judge and musical role model Mary J. Blige to declare: “She can sing!” Keia later went on to compete on Season 4 of “The Voice” as well\, but wasn’t chosen for a team. Her journey hasn’t been without its disappointments and derailments. But she can’t stop singing. \nSo sing she has — for everyone from former President Bill Clinton and former Memphis Mayor A.C. Wharton to Writer/ProducerTyler Perry\, Singer Denise Williams and Author Eric Jerome Dickey. After jumping into the Independent film arena where her music was used on the soundtrack for the film “Lesson Before Love” (available on Hulu and at RedBox) Keia felt it was time to get back to the music. In June of 2011\, Keia released her first solo effort\, an EP; T.I.M.E. and followed up with several music videos. In early 2013 Keia received an Emmy for her PSA for the Memphis Music Foundation featuring her original song “Movin’ On” motivating her to release a full album which she did in April of 2014 called “Facets”. \nIn 2013\, Keia decided to do something she hadn’t done since high school; Act. Since then\, she has been cast locally in “The Color Purple” (ensemble 2013)\, Once On this Island (TiMoune 2014)\, “Hoodoo Love” (Toulou 2015) and “Simply Simone” (Nina 2015). She was nominated for an Ostrander Award for best Lead Actress in a Musical for “Simply Simone”. In 2016\, the world seemed to open up for Keia as she was selected for the legendary BB King Allstar band that travelled the world on Holland America Cruise lines singing Blues\, Rock and Roll\, Jazz\, Classic R&B and Soul. Back at home in Memphis\, she was awarded Actress of the Year award (2016) from the “Diversity on Stage & Film”  committee as well as being featured in a new independent film “Verge” that showcases local indie Artists from Memphis\, TN.

SUMMARY:Folk All Y'all presents Rissi Palmer
DESCRIPTION:Doors open at 7pm | Show begins at 7:30pm\nTickets: $20+\n\nPurchase tickets here\n\nRissi describes her work as “Southern soul\,” which is as deceptively simple as each of those words on its own. Pulling influences from country to jazz to folk to rock to pop\, Rissi’s sound is a rich combination of cultures and perspectives. After releasing her debut album in 2008\, she was featured in Ebony\, Rolling Stone and The Wall Street Journal and performing everywhere from the White House to the Grand Ole Opry. \n\nHer debut single\, “Country Girl\,” put an African-American woman at the top of Billboard’s Country chart for the first time in 20 years. Since that whirlwind beginning\, Rissi has left Nashville and re-centered in North Carolina\, writing and performing the songs that reflect her constant evolution. She has toured extensively across the country\, sharing stages with Taylor Swift\, The Eagles\, Chris Young\, Charley Crockett\, and many more. Rissi is now the host of the Apple Music Country show\, Color Me Country Radio with Rissi Palmer\, a Special Correspondent for CMT’s (Country Music Television) Hot 20 Countdown\, and is also among some of country music’s most notable stars being showcased in the Country Music Hall of Fame’s “American Currents: State of the Music” exhibition\, running through March 2022. Oh\, and she’s nominated for a GRAMMY this year! She’s also dedicated herself to uplifting the next generation of BIPOC country artists through the Color Me Country Artist Grant Fund.\n\nMinimum ticket price is $20 but you can name-your-own price above that if you’re feeling it.

SUMMARY:Crosstown Arthouse presents JOHNNY GUITAR
DESCRIPTION:The Crosstown Arthouse Film Series presents JOHNNY GUITAR at Crosstown Theater. \nNicholas Ray / 1954 / 110 minutes / Rated M \nTickets: $5 at the door\nFilms begin at 7:30 pm (sharp!) at Crosstown Theater \nYou will get to know who JOHNNY GUITAR is in this movie\, but you won’t really care — because the story in JOHNNY GUITAR is rightfully and solidly fixed on the hatred between Vienna\, played by Joan Crawford\, and Emma Small\, played by Mercedes McCambridge. The two actresses notoriously hated each other in real life and the tension between the two seeps onto the screen. JOHNNY GUITAR is ostensibly a Western about a saloon owner (Crawford) balancing her relationship with her local customers and out-of-towner railroad men and possible outlaws versus a local (McCambridge) who wants nothing more than to stir up trouble. JOHNNY GUITAR was a favorite of Shinji Aoyama\, Pedro Almodovar\, Jean-Luc Godard and Francis Truffaut.  \nThe Crosstown Arthouse Film Series showcases a diverse collection of independent\, international\, historically significant\, artistic\, experimental\, cult\, underground and documentary features.

SUMMARY:Sofia Talvik
DESCRIPTION:Crosstown Arts presents Swedish Americana/Folk artist Sofia Talvik in the Green Room.  \nThe Green Room at Crosstown Arts\nSaturday\, August 6\, 2022\nDoors at 7pm | Show begins at 7:30pm\nTickets: $15 advance | $20 day of show \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE \nSofia Talvik is a rare artist and an avid storyteller with a voice comparable to giants like Joni Mitchell\, or as the folk/Americana magazine No Depression said\, “A singer/songwriter who is able to evoke the essence of Laurel Canyon circa the ‘60s as expressed in the work of Joni Mitchell\, Judy Collins\, Buffy Sainte-Marie and others who were able to paint beautiful tapestries from words and music.” \nPrepare yourself for a unique and intimate evening\, not unlike the 70’s coffeehouses and speakeasies. You will be up close and personal with a world class act that has played big festivals like Lollapalooza and SxSW and opened for artists like Maria McKee and David Duchovny (X-files\, Californication). It is in this kind of setting where she can casually joke and communicate with the audience that her strength as a performer shines the most. \nHer delicate songs are performed in an intimate way\, showing off Sofia’s angelic voice enhanced only by a tasteful mix of harmonies and delays\, accompanied by the steady picking of her acoustic guitar and the rhythm section consisting of her own two feet\, bells and a stomp box. \nShe’s an experienced international touring artist that has toured through 47 U.S states\, many of the countries in Europe and far away places like New Zealand. \nSofia Talvik’s 8th studio album “Paws of a Bear” was released September 2019. The album is reflecting inwards instead of to her surroundings\, exploring thoughts about identity and home. The single “Take Me Home” has been charting on Folk and Americana radio charts in the U.S and Europe. \n“Paws of a Bear\, finds Talvik taking a more Americana-flavored approach — influenced by Jason Isbell\, Valerie June and others” – Billboard Magazine \n“This album is solid gold from start to finish” – Americana Highways \n“Talvik develops is of a similar tapestry to Joni Mitchell\, tapping into that same knack for soul-stirring clarity and resonance. Between\, however\, is something of a different nature. Open-air production sets the scene for an evocative and atmospheric release from the Swedish folk artist\, coming in the form of an upcoming album\, Paws of a Bear.” – PopMatters \n“Talvik’s voice is a thing of singular beauty.” – Goldmine Magazine
