SUMMARY:An Intimate Night with Keia
DESCRIPTION:The Green Room at Crosstown Arts\nTue\, May 19\, 7:30 PM\n\n\n\nFrom $30.39The price you’ll pay. No surprises later.\nBuy now \n\n\n\nAbout\n\n\nA night of live music with Strings! Experience Keia in a way you never have before\, an intimate setting with some of your favorite songs. This is a night you don’t want to miss! Keia was born in San Antonio\, TX but grew up all over the world in a Military family. But it was the move to Memphis that helped her establish her sound and performance style. She has performed with some of the best talent Memphis has to offer\, while also building relationships with notable national names like The Bar-Kays and David Porter of Stax Records. \nIn College\, Keia made history by being crowned only the third Black Miss ASU (Arkansas State University). The same university that Miss America 1990 Debbye Turner attended\, and was crowned the first Black Miss ASU. Keia went on to the Miss Arkansas Pageant\, where she was crowned Miss Congeniality\, a name that stuck with her for years to come. She graduated with a degree in Communications emphasis Radio/Television Broadcasting and a minor in Political Science. But the arts kept calling her name. \nYears later\, it was American Idol that served as the true catalyst for Keia to recognize who she was as an Artist and what she wanted to do with her career. The talent competition led her to Hollywood where “Miss Congeniality” wowed the judges for two seasons. Her audition performance of Celine Dion’s vocally rigorous “My Heart Will Go On” prompted guest judge and musical role model \nMary J. Blige to simply declare: “She can sing!” Keia later went on to compete on Season 4 of “The Voice” as well\, but wasn’t chosen for a team. Her journey hasn’t been without its disappointments and de-railings. But she can’t stop singing.

SUMMARY:Crosstown Arts Film Series: No Country for Old Men
DESCRIPTION:No Country for Old Men (2007\, dir. Joel & Ethan Coen)\nThe Coen Brothers’ Academy Award–winning adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s novel stands as one of the most unsettling American films of the 21st century. Set against the bleak landscapes of West Texas\, No Country for Old Men follows intersecting lives pulled into a spiral of violence after a drug deal goes wrong\, along with the unstoppable force that follows in its wake. \nAnchored by Javier Bardem’s chilling portrayal of Anton Chigurh\, the film explores fate\, chance\, and moral erosion with an almost mythic inevitability. Sparse dialogue\, oppressive silence\, and sudden brutality create an atmosphere of constant dread. Sheriff Ed Tom Bell’s weary reflections frame the film as a lament for a world that no longer makes sense to those who once believed they understood it. Grim\, precise\, and hauntingly modern\, No Country for Old Men demands the focus and scale of a theatrical viewing.

SUMMARY:Exhibiting Artist Talk

In the mystic\, diversity is a prerequisite for all creativity\, which is why Crosstown Concourse is the perfect home. In The Mystic\, the world is far-better served by different beliefs than it could ever be if limited by rigid uniformity. \nAnd if this doesn’t rock your gypsy soul\, the goal of The Mystic is to not feel better but get better at feeling.

SUMMARY:An Evening with Alexis Jade and the Gemstones
DESCRIPTION:An Evening with Alexis Jade and the Gemstones \nThe Green Room at Crosstown Arts  \nFriday\, June 12th\, 2026 \nDoors open at 7:00 PM | Show at 7:30 PM  \n$20 in advance (plus fees) | $25 at the door \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE \nCozy up in the Gemstones’ living room as Alexis Jade debuts new songs from her forthcoming LP\, provisionally titled Dreaming on Company Time. The performance looks back on the miles covered while touring on the tailwinds of 2022’s With Love\, Alexis Jade. The intervening years have brought many hallmarks of life lived out of a suitcase: borrowed couches\, shared meals\, porch sitting sessions\, and often\, as the title song suggests\, “miles and miles of heartache.” A homecoming in multiple regards\, the show will open with a performance from Nashville-based singer-songwriter Sierra Bryan\, who was on tour with Jade at the time many of these previously-unreleased songs came knocking. \nIn a recreation of the Gemstones’ own respective living spaces\, the stage will be adorned with furniture\, pictures\, family heirlooms\, and other mementos that mean home to them. This evening is a celebration of the way artists build home together\, paying homage to the importance of community and collaborative place-making that guides Jade’s creative output as an artist in perpetual motion. \nAlexis will be joined by her musical collaborators who continue to make “home” a moveable feast: Sam Long on bass\, Matt Gaines on pedal steel/keys\, Jon Gaines and drums\, Josh Green on guitar\, and Carter Wenger on guitar.

SUMMARY:Folk All Y'all: SING IT LOUD ft. Elsie\, Rachel Maxann\, and Aybil
DESCRIPTION:Folk All Y’all: SING IT LOUD ft. Elsie\, Rachel Maxann\, and Aybil\nThe Green Room at Crosstown Arts\nSaturday\, June 13th\, 2026\nDoors open at 7:00 pm | Show starts at 7:30 pm\n$25 tickets\nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE\nWe’re throwing a Black Music Month celebration with a side of Pride as we welcome three astounding singer-songwriters in one unforgettable in-the-round performance. \nElsie (she/her) is a country artist from Columbia\, Mississippi\, known for her rich vocals\, heartfelt storytelling\, and genre-blending sound. Drawing from country\, soul\, and folk influences\, she creates music that is both raw and deeply personal. In 2018\, she made history as the first African American and first Mississippian to win The Country Showdown\, earning the title Best New Act in Country Music. After taking time away to focus on family\, Elsie returned stronger than ever\, recently joining Rissi Palmer’s Color Me Country Class of 2025 and being featured in BET’s The Future of Black Culture series. \nA master of musical fusion\, Rachel Maxann (she/her) seamlessly blends the soulful rhythms of blues\, the heartfelt melodies of folk\, and a dash of vintage Indie rock to create a sound that is uniquely her own. Her musical artistry has taken her to stages across the globe\, from large crowds to intimate venues. Beyond the music\, it’s the impact of it all that Maxann strives for. Its present in everything she does\, from her work as a therapist and activist to the music she makes and the people she inspires along the way. \nAybil (she/her) is a singer-songwriter from Memphis\, TN. When her family moved to Tulsa\, OK\, early in her life\, she began writing about friendship and solitude to cope with the change. As a ’90s baby who grew up in the church\, she was listening to Gospel powerhouses alongside musicals from the ’40s\, ’50s\, and ’60s\, forming a unique perception of what music should be. She hopes her songs create a place of reflection\, healing\, and empowerment.

SUMMARY:Yotam Silberstein Trio
DESCRIPTION:Yotam Silberstein Trio\nThe Green Room at Crosstown Arts  \nSunday\, June 14\, 2026 \nDoors open at 5:30 PM | Show starts at 6:00 PM \n$25 in advance (plus fees) | $35 at the door  \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE \nYotam Silberstein’s blend of straight ahead jazz\, brazilian and other South American styles of music performed with that energetic New York flare promises to bring an emotionally impactful evening that will truly be a night to remember! \nYotam Silberstein\, one of the leading jazz guitarists of his generation\, has gained acclaim for a sound rich in bebop and blues as well as musical folklore from South America\, North Africa and the Middle East\, giving his music an increasingly global thrust. His mature compositional gift and gripping interpretive finesse are vividly represented on his 2022 release Universos and his 2020 outing with Argentine multi-instrumentalist and composer Carlos “Negro” Aguirre titled En el jardín. He is a member of the John Patitucci Trio (heard on the acclaimed album Irmãos de Fé)\, has toured extensively with legendary Brazilian singer-songwriter Ivan Lins\, and played with characteristic fire and taste on Monty Alexander’s GRAMMY-nominated Harlem-Kingston Express Live! as well as David Sanborn & Marcus Miller’s Time and the River. He has worked in bands with some of the greatest figures in jazz including George Coleman\, Charles McPherson\, Jimmy Heath\, James Moody and Roy Hargrove\, and has toured with his own groups all over the world in the most prestigious festivals and venues including the Tokyo\, Umbria and North Sea Jazz Festivals as well as Kennedy Center\, Jazz at Lincoln Center and more. \nBorn in Tel Aviv and based in New York\, Yotam was discovered at a young age by the great James Moody. He has evolved into a highly influential artist of his day\, hailed by JazzTimes for a musical output “struck through with passion and intimacy\,” and by The New York Times as a player who “improvises in a cutting tone and writes heady original tunes that seem to tug the straight-ahead jazz tradition in new directions.” Fueled by a deep love of the jazz lineage and a joyful immersion in choro\, samba\, frevo\, tango and other idioms\, he approaches his wide-ranging influences with a near-anthropological meticulousness\, conveying a sense not just of technical knowledge but also rich lived experience.

SUMMARY:Marisa Anderson with Cloudland Canyon
DESCRIPTION:Marisa Anderson with Cloudland Canyon\nThe Green Room at Crosstown Arts  \nThursday\, June 18\, 2026 \nDoors open at 7:00 PM | Show Starts at 7:30 PM \n$20 in advance (plus fees) | $25 at the door  \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE \nAt the Green Room\, Marisa Anderson brings her singular\, transportive guitar work to the stage—music that feels at once timeless and strikingly new. Don’t miss this rare chance to experience one of today’s most compelling instrumental voices up close. Opening for Marisa will be Cloudland Canyon! \nMarisa Anderson channels the history of the guitar and stretches the boundaries of tradition. Her playing is fluid\, emotional\, and masterful\, featuring compositions and improvisations that re-imagine the landscape of American music. The New Yorker calls Anderson ‘one of the most distinctive guitar players of her generation’\, and NPR refers to her as among ‘this era’s most powerful players’. Her music has been featured in Rolling Stone\, NPR\, The New York Times\, Pitchfork\, the BBC and The Wire. Festival appearances include Big Ears\, Pitchfork Midwinter\, Le Guess Who and the Copenhagen Jazz Festival. Anderson is the recipient of the 2025 Spark Award for Oregon Artists presented by the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation. \nIn addition to her solo work\, Anderson is sought after as a collaborator and composer. Swallowtail\, her second record in duo with drummer Jim White was released May 2024 on Thrill Jockey Records. 2024 also saw the release of the feature film score ‘ A Perfect Day For Caribou’\, as well as appearances on records by Charlie Parr\, Myriam Gendron and Big|Brave. In addition to multiple solo releases\, past projects include 2021’s Lost Futures with guitarist William Tyler\, and contributions to recordings by Matmos\, Tara Jane O’Neil\, Beth Ditto\, Sharon Van Etten and Circuit Des Yeux\, among others. \nClassically trained\, Anderson honed her skills playing in country\, jazz and circus bands. Her current work is focused on a mid-20th century archive of recorded music from the Islamic world\, Southeast Asia and the Soviet Union. \nCloudland Canyon is the long-running psychedelic project led by Memphis-based artist Kip Uhlhorn and Thomas Corbin known for blending kosmische music\, drone\, shoegaze\, dub\, ambient electronics\, and experimental rock into immersive sound environments that feel equally influenced by German progressive music\, DIY noise culture\, and cinematic psychedelia. Across releases on labels including Holy Mountain\, Cranky Records\, and custom collaborations with artists such as Sonic Boom (Spacemen 3)\, Cloudland Canyon has developed a reputation for expansive live performances that move fluidly between hypnotic repetition\, heavy atmosphere\, and melodic dream states \nFor this special performance\, Cloudland Canyon shares the bill with acclaimed guitarist and composer Marisa Anderson for an evening centered around immersive instrumental music\, emotional resonance\, and deep listening. The pairing brings together Anderson’s meditative\, Americana-infused guitar work with Cloudland Canyon’s layered psychedelic soundscapes\, creating a uniquely transportive live experience. \nThe group is currently finishing work on a new full-length album and developing new live material that expands further into dubbed-out psychedelia\, ambient composition\, and longform experimental arrangements. Recent collaborations and performances have included work connected to live film scoring\, avant-garde composition\, and cross-genre improvisation.

SUMMARY:Mississippi Blues Night with Willie Farmer and Ryan Lee Crosby
DESCRIPTION:Crosstown Arts presents Mississippi Blues Night with Willie Farmer and Ryan Lee Crosby\nThe Green Room at Crosstown Arts\nSATURDAY\, June 20\, 2026\nDoors open at 7 pm | Show begins at 7:30 PM\nTickets: $20 in advance (plus fees) | $25 at the door\npurchase TICKETS HERE\n\n\n\n\n\nThough the Mississippi Delta’s Willie Farmer and Rhode Island’s Ryan Lee Crosby come from different backgrounds\, they are each dedicated to performing Mississippi blues music. Farmer — a Big Legal Mess and Music Maker Foundation artist from Duck Hill\, MS — focuses on Delta- and Memphis-style blues while Crosby performs the stomping North Mississippi and the haunting Bentonia\, MS blues. (Skip James is from Bentonia\, MS.) The Memphis Flyer terms Farmer‘s last recording a “great album.” Though Crosby is a yankee\, he has spent considerable time in Memphis and Mississippi and is mentored by GRAMMY Award nominee and juke joint proprietor Jimmy “Duck” Holmes. \n\n\nWillie Farmer is living proof that Mississippi continues to produce deep blues. The 65-year-old guitarist is neither a soul modernist nor a revivalist\, but a small-town auto mechanic who’s never shaken his love for old-school legends like Muddy Waters\, Howlin’ Wolf\, and Lightnin’ Hopkins. \nA lifelong resident of tiny Duck Hill\, located in the hills east of the Delta\, Farmer grew up on his family’s farm. He picked up the acoustic guitar in his early teens\, and after saving money from picking cotton\, he bought his first electric instrument. He began performing at school events and local gatherings\, learning blues and R&B by tuning into a powerful Nashville radio station. \nIn his early twenties\, he joined a loose-knit band that played juke joints around the area\, including Duck Hill\, Grenada\, Kilmichael\, and deep into the Delta in Greenwood and Charleston. But he eventually grew weary of the rowdy club scene\, where “people liked to fight like crazy.” \nIn 2003\, Farmer helped found the Grassroots Blues Festival\, held in a meadow outside Duck Hill. The annual event connected him with downhome blues artists from across Mississippi\, including Willie King and Leo Welch. \nFarmer’s first serious studio effort came with “The Man From the Hill” (2019\, Big Legal Mess)\, recorded over several sessions at Bruce Watson’s Memphis-based Delta-Sonic Sound. Working in a North Mississippi Hill Country vein\, the album features Jimbo Mathus and drummer George Sluppick\, with Farmer also exploring gospel harmonies alongside Memphis’ Barnes Brothers. \nFor the past thirty years\, he’s operated his own auto repair shop\, but he hopes the success of the album and touring opportunities will let him finally step away from the garage. The Memphis Flyer called the record a “great album\,” highlighting his playing as full of “rough-hewn strength and deep sensitivity\,” while Relix Magazine noted that it “showcases Farmer’s gritty blues approach as he honors longtime influences like Lightnin’ Hopkins and Howlin’ Wolf.” \nIn his upcoming album At the Blue Front\, Ryan Lee Crosby channels the ethereal sounds of Bentonia\, Mississippi\, through a live field recording captured at the legendary Blue Front Café\, the oldest active juke joint in the U.S. In the spirit of folklorists like Alan Lomax and David Evans\, the album was recorded on reel-to-reel tape at the historic venue owned by Grammy-nominated bluesman Jimmy “Duck” Holmes. \nSupported by Holmes\, Grant Smith on calabash\, and Jay Scheffler on harmonica\, Crosby delivers eight tracks that honor Bentonia and North Mississippi blues traditions while reflecting his own distinctive voice. The album\, rich with spontaneously composed performances\, centers on Crosby’s electric 12-string guitar\, played in both standard and “crossnote” tunings. \nCrosby’s journey into Bentonia blues began in 2012 after discovering the early recordings of Skip James. He started formal studies with Holmes in 2019\, but his influences also include Jack Owens\, Cornelius Bright\, and Robert Belfour\, Jessie Mae Hemphill\, and RL Boyce—the latter two of whom he has performed and recorded with. \nDubbed “a young torchbearer of the style” by Smithsonian Magazine\, Crosby blends deep tradition with personal mysticism. His sound is raw\, immediate\, and reverent to place and people. \nHe has earned features in Guitar Player\, Premier Guitar\, Aquarium Drunkard\, Vintage Guitar\, American Blues Scene\, and WBUR (Boston NPR)\, among others. His performance credits include Juke Joint Fest\, Meadowlark Fest\, and Levon Helm Studios\, and he has also worked with producer Bruce Watson of Fat Possum Records.

Louis Hayes\, a native of Conerway’s hometown Detroit\, Michigan; and one of the first people he called when he moved to New York. His contributions to music are vast\, however many may not be aware that they have heard him. His early work was with Horace Silver\, he played on several of Cannonball Adderly’s most important works\, he was a co-leader with Woody Shaw and has been consistent as a full-fledged bandleader\, serving as a mentor to many in the generations to follow his own. Hayes is a living link to those who have passed and carries the torch even now\, for “this wonderful artform\,” as he calls his music. Mr. Hayes is thrilled to have learned of this performance\, and we look forward to giving him his flowers as we tell his story through song. \nHenry Conerway III has become a leading presence on the modern jazz scene since moving to New York City in 2015\, collaborating with renowned artists including Freddy Cole\, Marcus Printup of Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra\, Jazzmeia Horn\, and Grammy-nominated trumpeter Russell Gunn\, while also participating in residencies with Jazz at Lincoln Center in Doha. A proud native of Detroit\, Conerway began performing at the Detroit Jazz Festival while still in high school and studied under legendary trumpeter Marcus Belgrave as part of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Civic Jazz Orchestra. A graduate of Morehouse College with a degree in Music Composition\, he co-founded the Atlanta-based ensemble Jaspects\, which became a staple of the city’s music scene and collaborated with artists including PJ Morton\, Janelle Monáe\, Tony Hightower\, and Chantae Cann. His career has taken him to major festivals and venues such as the Atlanta Jazz Festival\, Toronto Jazz Festival\, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts\, as well as iconic New York jazz clubs including Birdland Jazz Club\, Smalls Jazz Club\, Smoke Jazz & Supper Club\, and Minton’s Playhouse. In addition to his work as a performer\, Conerway has composed music for film and appeared in theatrical productions including the Tony-nominated Broadway show Shuffle Along\, or\, the Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed.

Known for blending Americana roots with expansive\, genre-defying songwriting\, she has shared stages with Lisa Loeb\, Adeem the Artist\, and Brian Dunne\, performed at AmericanaFest\, and collaborated with artists including Jake Blount and Butch Walker. \nShe infuses hope into songs about religious alienation\, mental health struggles\, and societal injustice to create a uniquely queer and unholy ruckus. Jessye’s latest album Glitter Up the Dark was produced by Aaron Lee Tasjan and incorporates Eighties pop and Nineties alternative flourishes to the Americana and country-rock sounds of 2023’s Renovations and her 2022 debut Landscapes\, which earned her a nomination for Americana Artist of the Year at the 2022 Boston Music Awards. \nNo Depression says “Comparisons to Elton John and Brandi Carlile are easy — DeSilva clearly takes a page from these idols\, anchoring [her] songs in pop melody juggernauts\, gauzy textures\, and vocal bravado.” Nashville Scene named her a 2023 Artist To Watch\, saying “DeSilva could inject new life into a genre that could definitely use a little more pretzel logic.” \nWe’re so thrilled to welcome Jessye back after her first stunning series appearance.
