A graduate of the University of Memphis\, Harris became the school’s first jazz guitar instructor and has since built a dynamic career as a performer\, arranger\, recording engineer\, and mentor.\nHe has toured internationally\, recorded string arrangements\, and shared the stage with artists from Paris to Morocco. Locally\, he’s the founder of World Soul Project\, teaches music in Memphis schools\, and plays regularly with the Memphis Groovetet on Beale Street.\nABOUT PAT MARTINO\nPat began playing professionally in 1961. He performed with a wide variety of artists including Sonny Stitt\, Gene Ammons\, Richard Groove Holmes\, John Handy\, Bobby Hutcherson\, Chick Corea\, Jack McDuff\, Don Patterson\, Stanley Clark\, Eric Kloss\, Trudy Pitts\, Willis Jackson\, Lloyd Price\, Woody Herman\, Chuck Israels\, Charles Earland\, Barry Miles and Joe Pesci. He cites the Beatles\, Miles Davis\, and Wes Montgomery as having the biggest impact on him as a musician. He became the youngest ever faculty member at the University of Miami at age 18\, and then the youngest ever faculty at Berklee College of Music at 19. It was also during his time at Berklee that Pat Metheny began a 3 year collaborative stint with vibraphonist Gary Burton. Pat Metheny’s style is a wide ranging and deep one. His influences come from all areas of music including classical guitar\, rock\, and folk music\, and he displays them all in whatever medium he chooses. Pat Metheny was an early adopter of the synthesizer\, using its sound to the benefit of his music and the music as a whole. He has recorded many albums seminal to jazz\, including Bright Size Life\, Kin\, Pat Metheny Group\, The Way Up\, and Beyond the Missouri Sky only to name a few. He has played with the likes of Jaco Pastorius\, Brad Mehldau\, Charlie Haden\, Lyle Mays\, Mark Egan\, Chris Potter\, John Scofield\, Michael Brecker\, Jack Dejohnette\, McCoy Tyner\, Bill Frisell\, and many others.

DESCRIPTION:One After 901 Presents: The Beatles in Memphis\nThe Green Room at Crosstown Arts\nFriday\, August 21st\, 2026\nDoors open at 7:00 pm | Show starts at 7:30 pm\n$20 in advance (plus fees) | $30 at the door\nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE\nOne After 901 presents an immersive live celebration of The Beatles that goes far beyond the traditional tribute show. The evening will then continue with a second set imagining an alternate-history 1967 Beatles tour\, featuring songs the band never had the chance to perform live. \nPart concert\, part musical time capsule\, and part reimagining of what could have been\, One After 901 offers audiences a fresh and dynamic way to experience one of the most influential catalogs in modern music.

SUMMARY:Caroline Davis: Solo
DESCRIPTION:Caroline Davis: Solo\nThe Green Room at Crosstown Arts  \nFriday\, October 9th\, 2026  \nDoors open at 7:00 PM | Show starts at 7:30 PM \n$20 in advance (plus fees) | $30 at the door \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE \n\nCaroline Davis explores sonic textures offered by interactive technologies\, sharing sounds from the saxophone that she considers to be distinctive and quirky. Her solo performances are chosen spontaneously\, given the atmosphere of the room and the people present. \nShe makes use of Pure Data patches developed by the open sources community surrounding the Organelle (the technobear\, shreeswifty\, critterandguitari\, tony j morton\, nobuyasu sakonda\, soxsa\, varicela\, nicky-system\, samesimilar\, and chrisk). \nThe music during this performance will pull from Caroline’s recent solo album\, Fallows\, created during a time of rest on land in Ucross\, Wyoming. Bell hooks was a constant source of inspiration during this time\, through the following ideas: love as a practice of freedom\, radical openness\, maintenance of commitment\, using community as a means of escape\, belief in one’s capacity to transform\, what it means to listen\, and eliminating elimination. \n\n\n\n\nCaroline Davis is a Brooklyn-based saxophonist\, composer\, and activist\, whose work is driven by a desire for connection and a belief in music’s capacity to expand listeners’ ears\, minds\, and hearts. A 2025 Guggenheim Fellow in Composition\, she is the recipient of the DownBeat Critics Poll Alto Saxophone Rising Star Award\, as well as fellowships from NYFA\, the Jerome Foundation\, Chamber Music America\, and the Foundation for Contemporary Arts. Her residencies include MacDowell\, The Jazz Gallery\, Civitella\, and the Rockefeller Estate\, and she has served as a mentor for New Music USA’s Next Jazz Legacy program. \nDavis’s work spans a wide range of creative contexts\, rooted in improvisation and social inquiry. She has released eight albums as a leader and collaborated with artists such as Allison Miller\, Lee Konitz\, John Zorn\, Angelica Sanchez\, The Femme Jam\, Miles Okazaki\, Nicole Mitchell\, Rajna Swaminathan\, and Matt Mitchell. Her most recent release\, Portals\, explores themes of grief and memory\, and she is also a contributor to Terri Lyne Carrington’s New Standards\, a landmark collection of jazz compositions by female-identifying composers. \nIn addition to her work as a performer and composer\, Davis is a dedicated educator\, teaching courses on gender in jazz at The New School and maintaining a private studio at the Manhattan School of Music. Her artistic practice is deeply intertwined with advocacy\, including work for gender equity through This Is A Movement\, and for current and formerly incarcerated individuals through initiatives such as Justice for Keith LaMar\, Freer Records\, Keys Beats Bars\, and Creative Beyond Incarceration.

SUMMARY:Modern Masters: Rodney Jordan with the Ted Ludwig Trio
DESCRIPTION:Modern Masters: Rodney Jordan with the Ted Ludwig Trio \nThe Green Room at Crosstown Arts  \nThursday\, November 5th\, 2026  \nDoors open at 7:00 PM | Show starts at 7:30 PM \n$25 in advance (plus fees) | $30 at the door | $10 student tickets  \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE \n\n\n\nThe Ted Ludwig trio returns to the Green Room stage for the 2026 Modern Masters series\, featuring bass great Rodney Jordan! \n\nRODNEY JORDAN\nRodney Jordan is a native of Memphis\, Tennessee where he grew up playing the bass in church and with his high school orchestra. He later studied music with Dr. London Branch\, Alvin Fielder\, and Andy Hardwick at Jackson State University in Jackson\, Mississippi. During his college years\, Jordan joined the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra where he served as Assistant Principal Bassist. After graduating\, he became Chair of the String Department at the Dougherty County Public School and served as Principal Bassist with the Albany Symphony Orchestra in Albany\, GA. Teaching has always been an important part of Mr. Jordan’s life and career. In addition to teaching strings in Dougherty County\, he also taught in the DeKalb County School Systems.\nDuring his years in Georgia\, Jordan served as a bass instructor at Darton College (part of the University System of Georgia) in Albany and at Georgia State University in Atlanta. While living in Atlanta\, Jordan became one of the city’s most active jazz bassists\, performing and recording with some of America’s finest jazz musicians\, including Marcus Printup\, Mulgrew Miller\, James Williams\, Milt Jackson\, George Coleman\, and Russell Gunn. He joined the faculty in the School of Music at Florida State University in Tallahassee\, FL in 2001 where he now holds a rank of Associate Professor of Jazz Studies. Jordan teaches jazz bass\, jazz combo playing\, music education classes\, and a jazz styles class.\n\nJordan joined the Marcus Roberts Trio in 2009. It was evident during that first official performance of the newly-formed trio at the prestigious Wigmore Hall in London that Jordan thoroughly understood Roberts’ unique trio conception. Rodney Jordan is one of the most versatile jazz bassists on the scene today. His tone is rich and soulful when he plays hauntingly beautiful phrases with the bow. Just as readily\, he plays fast virtuosic passages with apparent effortless skill. Jordan’s knowledge of harmony from his classical bass training combined with the relentless feeling of swing in his playing is a perfect fit for the powerful melodic\, blues-based\, syncopated improvisational sound of the Marcus Roberts Trio.

SUMMARY:The Mystic
DESCRIPTION:So\, what is The Mystic? The Mystic is a catalyst; through music\, story\, silence and dialogue\, we hope to strengthen our attachment to hopes and dreams. In the mystic\, diversity is a prerequisite for all creativity\, which is why Crosstown Concourse is the perfect home. In The Mystic\, the world is far-better served by different beliefs than it could ever be if limited by rigid uniformity. \nAnd if this doesn’t rock your gypsy soul\, the goal of The Mystic is to not feel better but get better at feeling.
